Strut Pontoons
Pontoons using the strut and gangway as a means of securing are an economical alternative. This method is suitable for the berthing of most private leisure craft in moderately calm conditions and in areas where the water is deep, the seabed is rocky or the structure is close to the shoreline.
Struts (usually a spiral welded galvanised tube) and the gangway are pivoted at either end of the rear edge of the pontoon and pivoted at the concrete abutment blocks on the shore.
The pivotal action allows vertical movement for tide changes and wave conditions. Diagonal braces of stainless steel cable are fitted between the gangway and strut for lateral support.
